1. About these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form an agreement between you and Runeword Technology Services ("Runeword", "we", "us" or "our") when you access or use a Runeword website, online community, software service, application or other service that links to these Terms (collectively, the "Services"). This includes Astro Corner where these Terms are linked or incorporated.
By creating an account or using a Service, you agree to these Terms and to any service-specific rules, acceptable-use standards, community guidelines or policies made available within that Service. If a separately signed contract, order, statement of work or service agreement applies to paid or bespoke work, that agreement takes priority to the extent of any conflict.
2. Eligibility and authority
You must meet any minimum age stated by the Service you use. Astro Corner is currently intended for adults aged 18 or over. If you use a Service on behalf of a business or organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that organisation to the applicable agreement.
You must not use a Service where doing so would be unlawful or prohibited by applicable sanctions, court order or other legal restriction.
3. Accounts, passwords and third-party sign-in
You are responsible for providing accurate account information, protecting your sign-in methods, keeping recovery information current and notifying us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
Some Services may allow you to sign in or create an account using Google, Microsoft, Apple or Discord. This is optional unless a particular Service states otherwise. We do not receive or store the password you use with those providers. Instead, the provider confirms your identity and supplies limited account information that the Service requests, such as a provider-specific user identifier, email address, verification status and basic profile information.
Where a provider identity is linked to an existing Runeword account, the link is treated as an authentication method for that account. We may require additional Runeword authentication, including two-factor authentication, for sensitive actions or privileged staff access.
You are responsible for maintaining access to any third-party account you choose as a sign-in method. Provider outages, suspension of your provider account, withdrawal of provider APIs or changes to provider terms may temporarily prevent that sign-in method from working. Where supported, you should keep another recovery or sign-in method available.
4. Acceptable use
You must use the Services lawfully and respectfully. You must not:
- commit, encourage or facilitate unlawful activity;
- harass, threaten, abuse, stalk or deliberately target other people;
- impersonate another person, organisation or Runeword staff member, or misrepresent an official status;
- upload malware, malicious code, credential-stealing content or material designed to damage systems or users;
- attempt to bypass access controls, rate limits, security measures, moderation restrictions or account protections;
- probe, scan or test systems for vulnerabilities without prior written permission;
- scrape, harvest or collect personal data at scale without a lawful basis and our permission;
- send spam, scams, deceptive promotions or automated nuisance messages;
- infringe intellectual-property, privacy, confidentiality or other rights;
- use the Services to exploit or endanger children or vulnerable people; or
- interfere with the availability, integrity or normal operation of the Services.
Individual Services may impose additional topic or community restrictions. Those rules form part of these Terms for that Service.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of content you create and upload, subject to rights you may have granted to others before uploading it. You must have the rights and permissions necessary to submit that content.
You grant Runeword a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, resize, transcode, back up, transmit and display your content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain and provide the Services and to respect the sharing and visibility choices you make within them. This licence ends when the content is deleted from active systems, except where retention is reasonably required for backups, legal obligations, security, dispute resolution or content that has lawfully been shared by others in a way that cannot reasonably be recalled.
Public content may be visible to people outside the Service and may be copied or shared by them. Do not publish information you do not want to become public.
6. Community moderation and safety
For social or community Services, we may review, restrict, label, remove or preserve content and may warn, restrict, suspend or terminate accounts where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, community rules, legal obligations, security requirements or the rights and safety of users and third parties.
Moderation decisions may use reports, automated technical signals and human review. Where a Service provides an appeal process, you may use it subject to the applicable rules and time limits.
7. Third-party services
The Services may integrate with or link to third parties, including Google, Microsoft, Apple, Discord, hosting providers, email providers, astronomy-data providers and other external services. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy notices. Runeword does not control those third-party services and is not responsible for their independent operation, content or availability.
Connecting a third-party account authorises the limited exchange of data required for the integration you request. You can disconnect supported authentication providers through the relevant account-security controls, subject to maintaining at least one usable sign-in method.
8. Runeword intellectual property
Except for user content and third-party materials, the Services, software, branding, interfaces, documentation, designs and underlying code are owned by or licensed to Runeword and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you.
You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer, redistribute or exploit proprietary Runeword software or materials except where expressly permitted by law, an applicable open-source licence or a separate written agreement.
9. Service availability and changes
We aim to provide reliable Services, but no online service can be guaranteed to be uninterrupted or error-free. We may perform maintenance, change features, introduce security controls, discontinue integrations or retire parts of a Service. Where a material change affects an ongoing paid service, any specific contract or statutory rights continue to apply.
10. Paid and bespoke services
Quotes, subscriptions, development projects, managed services, hosting, consultancy and other paid work may be governed by additional terms, an order, statement of work or contract covering price, scope, payment, delivery, cancellation and support. Those specific terms take priority for that transaction.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer rights.
11. Security
You must not attempt to obtain unauthorised access to accounts, systems or data. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to info@runeword.co.uk and do not exploit it, access data unnecessarily or publicly disclose it before we have had a reasonable opportunity to investigate.
12. Suspension, closure and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time and, where supported, close or request deletion of your account. We may restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary for security, serious or repeated breaches, unlawful use, non-payment under an applicable paid agreement, or where we discontinue a Service.
Provisions that by their nature should continue after termination — including intellectual-property, liability, dispute and lawful-retention provisions — remain effective.
13. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or rights and remedies that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law.
Subject to those protections, free community and informational Services are provided on an "as available" basis. Astronomy calculations, forecasts, object visibility, alerts and third-party data are aids to planning and should not be treated as guarantees of observing conditions, safety, scientific accuracy for critical use, or professional advice.
For business users, and unless a separate written agreement provides otherwise, Runeword is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, loss of anticipated savings or loss arising from matters outside our reasonable control. Any contractual liability for paid bespoke services is governed primarily by the applicable order or service agreement.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law applicable to the part of the United Kingdom in which Runeword Technology Services is established, unless mandatory consumer law requires otherwise. If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings available to you under applicable law.
Before starting formal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us so that we can try to resolve the matter.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in law, security, provider requirements, our Services or our business. The current version will be published here with its effective date. Where a change is material and we have appropriate contact details, we may provide additional notice through the relevant Service or by email.
